The flight helmet, model LH-250, represents the utmost development in flight helmets for helicopter use. LH-250 is the result of years of research and collaboration between the MSA-Gallet Research Centre and the Aerospace Centre of Toulouse. LH-250 has been designed and created using the most modern technological systems aimed at guaranteeing maximum comfort, reduced weight, stability, retention and protection. Thanks to the extremely modern design of its materials, reformulated on the basis of aerospace experience, the accurate design and research for a new compact and ergonomic form make the LH-250 versatile and adaptable to the most varied operative demands of flight personnel.
LH-250 is predisposed for use with night visors ANVIS-NVG.

The Product
The shell of the MSA-GALLET flight helmets is made from a composite rigid structure built from a Kevlar© fibre reinforced with carbon fibres and fire-retardant epoxy resins. The entire lamination cycle is carried out in a controlled vacuum environment. Exactly the same technology is used for the construction of aerospace structural parts (Vacuum System Technology). Element finishes and cuts are made using a waterjet cutting technology with a robotised system.
The surface of the shell is available in any colours requested by customer and with specific low glare treatments. The inside of the MSA-GALLET flight shells consists of a multilayer structure for energy absorption, made from closed cell heat polymers of a variable density and with a high energy impact, covered with a soft fire-retardant fabric and a soft padded leather edging.
There are five possible regulations of the ear-phones and the front, occipital and back areas are fitted with comfortable removable padded supports available in three different sizes for perfect adaptation to the shape of the head to the flight helmet.
The internal parts can be easily removed for cleaning and maintenance.

Weight and Size
Cover small and large, with three adjustable sizes and removable pads for measurements from 53 to 63 cm.
LH-250 large, sound system with Standard NATO weighs 1189 grams.

MAIN FEATURES
Impact Resistance
The LH-250 flight helmet has been designed for the utmost absorption of energy following an impact. These requirements have been certified in accordance with the military specification USAF MIL-DTL-87174A, according to the methodology protocols of the American National Standard Institute ANSI Z90.1.

Perforation Resistance
The LH-250 flight helmet is characterised by its external shell made from a Kevlar© fibre reinforced with carbon fibre and fire-retardant epoxy resins. Due to its special construction, perforation resistance has been certified in accordance with the military specification USAF MIL-DTL-87174° and the specification EN-966.

Fire Resistance
LH-250 is the only flight helmet certified by the CEV (Centre d’Essai en Vol, Test Flight Centre in Brétigny) that has passed the fire resistance tests thanks to the special construction components of the shell, of the inside and of all of the components that are completely fire-retardant as well as the materials used for aerospace equipment.

Windblast Resistance
Thanks to its special configuration design, the LH-250 flight helmet has been certified by the CEAT (Toulouse Aeronautic Test Centre) with a maximum Windblast value of 625 keas and in accordance with the military specification USAF MIL-DTL-87174A.

Retention System
LH-250 is the only flight helmet that exceeds the dynamic retention system resistance test in accordance with the specifications EN-966 (The retention system represents the “Under-throat belt and opening and closing devices”) and the “Pulling off” test (accidental removal of the helmet).

Canopy Test
Thanks to its special configuration characteristics, the LH-250 flight helmet has been certified by the CEV (Centre d’Essai en Vol, Test Flight Centre in Brétigny) for use with emergency parachutes.

Decompression Test
Thanks to its special configuration characteristics, the LH-250 flight helmet has been certified by the CEV (Centre d’Essai en Vol, Test Flight Centre in Brétigny) for decompression following fast altitude variations.

Centrifuge Acceleration Test
Thanks to its special construction characteristics, the LH-250 flight helmet has been certified by the CEV (Centre d’Essai en Vol, Test Flight Centre in Brétigny) in order to guarantee the utmost comfort and safety in conditions of acceleration of centrifugal force.

Acoustic Insulation
Thanks to its special construction and shell and internal components, the LH-250 flight helmet is extremely soundproofed. Tests and measurements have been performed by: Ergonomics and Cognitive Sciences Department of the IMASSA (Institut de Médecine Aérospatiale du Service de Santé des Armées: Institute of Aerospace Medicine of the Forces' Health Service) in Brétigny sur Orge.

Quality of the Lenses
The LH-250 flight helmet is fitted with two lens devices, external and internal. Both of the lenses have been certified in accordance with the military specification USAF MIL-DTL-87174A, in accordance with the military specification MIL-V-43511C and the military specification MIL-C-83409 and the certification norms EN 1836.

Phonic Equipment
The LH-250 flight helmet is configured according to customer specifications in accordance with the standards and impedance characteristics requested by the manufacturer of the helicopter.

A.N.V.I.S. Goggles
Thanks to its special design, the LH-250 flight helmet can be fitted with any night visors, such as the Aviator’s Night Vision Imaging System. By fitting the special lens cover made from carbon fibres, with the special removable ANVIS support, any type and model of night visor can be adapted.
